and your not already dong at least one
pregnancy exercise,

make it very worthwhile.
benefits of exercise
Feeling tired, weight gain and not feeling your best are all normal
symptoms of pregnancy.
If you exercise for only 30 minutes a day then your health will benefit
and your pregnancy
will be easier.
Exercising can help in the following ways,
-reduce back and neck pain
-gives you more energy
-lifts your mood
-improves your posture
-tones and strenghtes your muscles (very important for when you are in
labor)
-You will get a better nights sleep if you exercise.
Pregnancy is going to change your body and as a result you wont be able
to do some
exercises. That's why it's important to choose safe exercises.
Walking is a great exercise that you or anyone can do at any time.
Walking is good workout
and is gentle on your joints and muscles. Swimming is another great
exercise as it
strenghtens your whole body. You are almost weightless in water so
there is less strain
on your muscles and joints so there is less chance of injuring them.
Aerobics will help to
strenghten you heart and lungs. It's important to have a good blood
flow around your body
while pregnant.
Here are some warning signs to look out for. If any of these occur then
you should call
your doctor.
- chest pain
- headache
- fluid leaking from vagina
- reduced fetal movement
- shortness of breath
- vaginal bleeding
This is not a definitive list and you should take note of anything
unusual that may
be caused by doing any exercises.
After birth, your body may never be the same again and will need a
little bit of
extra work to get back to normal. Remember that you have just had a
baby so no
crazy exercies, take it slow and easy. Keep practicing yoga and get
yourself
into a routine.
Remember to take everything in moderation, use common sense and if you
are not sure about
something then call your doctor or midwife and discuss the pregnancy
exercise with them.
